Emily “Em” Nunez is a young and successful technical operations officer and small business owner who resides in Long Island, New York. She is currently 26 years old. Emily’s passion for technology and entrepreneurship from a young age led her to pursue a career in the tech industry, and she has since become a prominent figure in her field.
As a young entrepreneur, Emily founded Aeris Gaming, an active gaming community from 2013-2016. Emily became the systems administrator responsible for maintaining the community’s infrastructure, website, marketing & gaming servers.
Emily has earned her recognition and respect within the networking industry, who obtained her CompTIA Network+ certification at only 17 years old. Today, Emily maintains IT infrastructure and deploys secure cloud network architecture for financial institutions, in addition to obtaining various IT certifications for cybersecurity, cloud computing, firewall administration, and network architecture. She is a role model for other young LGBTQ+ tech entrepreneurs, who she continues to inspire with her creativity, drive, and determination.
I have been a technical enthusiast since I was 11. I learned robotics, electronics, and computer repair during high school, but my passion for tech started long before that. I grew up maintaining a gaming community, which inevitably taught me the best of both worlds, entrepreneurship and complex networking. I did not graduate from college, and that has never held me back from advancing my skill set when the traditional networking industry shifted to cloud networking and cloud security architecture. At my current role, I maintain IT infrastructure, design and deploy secure cloud network architecture, and perform system administration for over 20 networks. My team works with clients in the financial industry to obtain compliance with strict cybersecurity requirements from NYSDFS CRR 500.
I founded Oak Creatives, a web design & creative agency in 2021. My mission with Oak Creatives is to showcase my client’s digital story through social media, web design, virtual business cards such as this one, and automate data collection/systems to analyze marketing information.
When I’m not behind the screen, I enjoy nearly all outdoor activities that involve hiking mountain climbing, rock climbing, skiing, or paddle boarding. Anyone who sets their mind to something can accomplish it, so get out there and start. I grew up with this quote guiding me “be all you can be, where you are, with what you have.”
